When writing content as a freelancer you’ll find everything from technical writing to simple article writing. Go through the assignments and jobs that are offered at the job boards, read the assignment details on the jobs you’re interested in and submit your bid for the assignment. Search the web and you’ll find lots of job boards and freelance writing jobs.
2. Self-publishing your own novels, short stories, and poems
If your drawer is filled with creative writings of different kinds, maybe you should consider self-publishing? With Internet it’s easier than ever. A couple of options to mention here is
a) Adjust your content to publishing on Amazon/Kindle. This has a huge advantage; the crowd is already there. There is little marketing to be done from your part and the money start to roll in pretty fast compared with many other opportunities. Therefore this may be a good way to start generating self employed income in your writing business. However; make sure your stuff is presented professionally without any flaws as you now have all the responsibility. This is what publishers usually takes care of.
b) You may also create your own membership site, your own book club sort of… Use social media to recruit your audience and publish continuing stories or whatever you come to think of to share your creative writings with the members of your site. You could sell this from Amazon/Kindle, your own website or blog or you could start selling it on eBay and other similar places. You could also present your know-how on eHow.com. Be creative. Maybe you could come up with a new way of presenting your know-how… It pays to be smart on Internet.
4. Blogging about a topic you’re passionate and insightful about
You can create your own blog or you could blog for pay. Creating your own blog would give you the best revenue over time. However you won’t earn money from day one. Searching the web for freelance blogging could therefore be a way to start while building your own blog.
